As part of the Liverpool 2007 project, both real and virtual model-making skills are being developed and used by adults and children in the local community to retrace our communal heritage. liverpool1207

Models showing how the city may have looked in 1207, recreating Liverpool's original seven streets as well as the Pool, and building models of Liverpool Castle, the Tower, the Church, a market place and houses.
Looking at Chapel Street from Old Hall Street.(above) The group followed an initial six week training programme devised by ICDC's Steve Roberts, and then continued their development work semi-independently with Steve acting in an advisory capacity. They are now working on a web site to house their models, which will be accessible through the Liverpool 2007 portal web site. view to castle

To complement these computer-generated models, children at Hey Green School in Wavertree have also made a model of Liverpool as it was in 1207. They used more traditional materials such as papier-mâché, cereal boxes and paint, to produce an equally stunning result. The school model is soon to be scanned in 3D by NMGM’s Conservation Centre and the digitized version of it will then be available on the same web site.
Now have a look at the excellent model produced by the children of Hey Green School, Wavertree.
