Wartime

The idea for the book came as a result of the author, Ken Blasbery, hearing Billy Butler on local radio remark that it was a pity that there were no accounts of what it was like to be a school child during the war.

So Ken, aged 9 at the outbreak of war, set to work and put down his recollections of his own life at the time. Unlike many of his young relatives, Ken was not evacuated - he lived at home near the Page Moss tram terminus in Dovecot where he also attended school. The book is not just about Ken's life, he also catalogues the numerous bombing raids and the damage inflicted on Merseyside through those terrible years.
